Arts & Economic Prosperity Report 6:
Broward County's Nonprofit Arts and Culture Inject $386 Million into Local Economy
In October 2023, Broward Cultural Division, in collaboration with the national nonprofit Americans for the Arts, announced the results of the Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6) study, which measured the significant economic and social impact of nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences.
The report shows that the arts are not only a fundamental part of our cultural identity but also a vital engine for growth and prosperity. Investing in the arts is a smart choice that benefits us all, fueling creativity, innovation, and the vibrancy of Broward County.
LOCAL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Total Industry Expenditures (FY2022) - $386 million
- Total Event-Related Expenditures - $247 million
- Personal Income paid to residents - $267 million
NATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:
The study found that in 2022, nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences generated $151.7 billion in economic activity—$73.3 billion in spending by the organizations, which leveraged an additional $78.4 billion in event-related spending by their audiences. That economic activity supported 2.6 million jobs, generated $29.1 billion in tax revenue.
