Go Green Painting and Planting Project
Participants will each decorate a large clay pot using paints, different mediums and a variety of techniques, including brushes, sponges, and embellishments. Soil, wildflower seeds, and instruction sheets are included with project.
Through demonstration, discussion and visual aids, the instructor will present information on how plants germinate, what plants need to grow, how plants impact our daily lives and the role plants have in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in our environment. A question sheet will be used as a pre and post assessment.
Students will each decorate a clay pot using non-toxic, eco-friendly, hi gloss tempera paints. Each student will receive pre-packaged soil and seeds and can use their decorated planter/pot to grow their own plants. This can be done at home or as a project in their classrooms.
Through instruction and experiential exercises, students will increase their ability to paint on both 2D and 3D surfaces and increase their understanding of usage and mixing of colors and textures.
Students will choose and manipulate materials in areas of color mixing, shading and accentuating both 2D and 3D surfaces, creating effects such as dry brushing and washes, using a variety of techniques with brushes.

Plastercraft Painting
Through demonstration, the instructor will present information on the creation of molds, the pouring of statues and plaques, and the changes of properties of the materials from liquids setting to solids. The students will feel the texture and temperature changes of the plaster as it sets, and see the release of the sculptures from their molds. Based on age, discussions will pursue of other items in their room which may have been formed by molds.
Through instruction and experiential exercises, students will increase their ability to paint on both 2-D and 3-D surfaces and increase their understanding of usage and mixing of colors and textures.
Students will choose and manipulate materials in areas of color mixing, shading and accentuating both 2-D and 3-D surfaces, creating effects such as dry brushing and washes, using variety of techniques with brushes to obtain the desired stroke or dots, and creating variations of paint hues and tones through layering and mixing.
Students will become inspired by their creative process through learning that art is not a perfect photograph, but a form of individual expression from within.

Textile Arts Project
Students will compare and discuss textiles within their environment such as curtains, clothes, leather, ribbons and others available. They will observe and describe embellishments on such fabrics and materials.
Students will design choose a canvas or cotton project such as a hat, banner or bag from a variety of styles and purposes. They will use a variety of embellishments such as jewels, buttons, numbers, pom-poms, letters and hundreds of assorted pre-cut shapes. Students will have a variety of drawing mediums plus either freehand or stencils available to create their designs. Students will become inspired by their creative process and learn that art is not a perfect photograph, but a form of individual expression from within.
