Go Green Painting and Planting Project Participants will each decorate a large clay pot using paints, different mediums and a variety of techniques, including brushes, sponges, and embellishments. Soil, wildflower seeds, and instruction sheets are included with project.
Through demonstration, discussion and visual aids, the instructor will present information on how plants germinate, what plants need to grow, how plants impact our daily lives and the role plants have in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in our environment. A question sheet will be used as a pre and post assessment.
Students will each decorate a clay pot using non-toxic, eco-friendly, hi gloss tempera paints. Each student will receive pre-packaged soil and seeds and can use their decorated planter/pot to grow their own plants. This can be done at home or as a project in their classrooms.
Through instruction and experiential exercises, students will increase their ability to paint on both 2D and 3D surfaces and increase their understanding of usage and mixing of colors and textures.
Students will choose and manipulate materials in areas of color mixing, shading and accentuating both 2D and 3D surfaces, creating effects such as dry brushing and washes, using a variety of techniques with brushes.
