The Annual Arts Teacher of the Year Awards recognizes outstanding educators in the arts and showcases the artistic excellence of students and faculty of Broward County schools.
This event is made possible with the partnership of the following:

- Broward Center for the Performing Arts
- private sector donors
The Arts Teacher of the Year Award Program highlights exceptional arts teachers and provides an educational and career development opportunity for arts students to gain valuable experience performing in a high quality, professional institution.
The 28th Annual Arts Teacher of the Year Awards is open to arts teachers in Broward County public, charter and private schools.
Awards
There are four (4) categories of awards - Dance, Music, Theater and Visual Arts and there will be one (1) Arts Teacher of the Year Award for each category.
Recipients of the Arts Teacher of the Year Awards will receive an assortment of cash, gifts and public recognition from the Program’s sponsors, the Broward Cultural Division, Business for the Arts of Broward, the School Board of Broward County, Florida, Broward Center for the Performing Arts and other generous private sector donors.

Selection Process
Recipients of Arts Teacher of the Year Awards are selected based upon the evaluation, scoring and ranking of applications and classroom visits. The Selection Process is conducted by the Arts Teacher of the Year Awards Selection Panel.
The Arts Teacher of the Year Awards Selection Panel is composed of members of the Broward Cultural Council’s Arts Education Committee. The Arts Education Committee is composed of arts educators and professionals, representatives of arts and cultural organizations, and major institutional partners such as the School Board of Broward County, Florida and the Children’s Services Council of Broward County. The Committee works in collaboration to strengthen Broward County’s arts education coalition and expand access to arts education in schools and communities.

About the Selection Process:
- First, the Arts Teacher of the Year Awards Selection Panel will review and score all eligible applications and identify the top ranked applicants to be designated as finalists.
- Then, Finalists from each award category will then be visited by members of the Panel who will evaluate and score each finalist on their work in the classroom.
- Finally, all Finalists will be recognized at the Arts Excellence 2013 Celebration where the Arts Teacher of the Year Awards will be presented.

Performance Showcase
Presenting Exceptionally Arts Students from Broward County Schools
The Arts Excellence 2013 Performance Showcase will present selected performing and visual arts artists and ensembles recognized through local, state and national competitions as exceptionally talented in their pursuit of artistic excellence. Top performers from Broward County Schools will showcase their skills during the 28th Annual Arts Teacher of the Year Awards event at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Broward County’s cultural embassy and arts complex. The Arts Excellence 2013 Performance Showcase provides an opportunity for Broward’s remarkable arts students to gain valuable, career experience performing in a high quality, professional, performing arts institution.
