the annual US Naval Flight 19 Memorial Service for the lost airmen. After
takeoff for a training mission on December 5, 1945, five Avenger torpedo
bombers with 14 crewmen disappeared from radar. Combined units of the Navy,
Army, Coast Guard, and even the British Royal Air Force participated in the
greatest air and sea search in the area’s history. The planes and crewmen
were never seen or heard from again. This began one of the 20th century's

Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Improvements and Renovations
Program (FLLAIR) is the newly developed theme for the south runway
expansion and Terminal 4 redevelopment. An airport-wide contest invited
employees from the airlines, tenants, Federal government agencies, and
Aviation Department to submit a theme. Representatives from these
organizations chose Dauren Walker’s theme as the winning entry from more
than 80 submissions. Dauren is from the Aviation’s Information Systems
Department. They also choose the logo submitted by Monica Capellutto from
the Aviation’s Planning Department.
