Painted Garden is a selection of works from Allen's Garden Series. These lyrical botanical abstractions are created with paint, and print and stitch to bring freshness to the ancient form of landscape painting. The use of living plant materials from her tropical garden is an integral part of Allen’s creative process. The experience of growing and nurturing these plants is as important to the artwork's meaning as is painting and stitching the final composition. Her goal is to create artworks that stimulate memory, evoke emotion, and communicate the importance of co-existence in harmony with nature.
The Lee Wagener Art Gallery offers Broward County artists an opportunity to exhibit their work in a prominent, high-traffic area in Terminal 2 that is accessible to the public. Artists are selected through the Public Art & Design Program and exhibits are changed every four months. The far end of the gallery has been reserved for the exhibition of video artworks from Broward County’s permanent art collection. At present, Tree-Rain, by Broward-based artists Suzanne Scherer and Pavel Ouporov, has been installed as the permanent video artwork.
