|
Christina Pettersson was born in 1976 in Stockholm, Sweden and currently lives and works in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was awarded a Fulbright Grant to return to Sweden in 1999, attending the Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg. She has received the Individual Artist Fellowship (2010) and the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship (2006) from the Florida Department of Cultural Affairs. In 1997 Pettersson studied at the Studio Arts Center International in Florence, Italy, as part of the study abroad program of the Maryland Institute, College of Art, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1998.
More recently, she was awarded a Yaddo Residency, a Vermont Studio Center Residency Program, participated in the New York Public Art Project Roots for Trees, and won the Miami Herald Art Basel Competition. Christina is in the permanent collections of Martin Z. Margulies at the Warehouse, Miami, FL, Marty & Cricket Taplin at the Sagamore Hotel, Miami, FL, Arturo Mosquera, and the Vanersborg Museum, Sweden.
She has exhibited work at the PULSE, SCOPE and NADA Art Fairs, the Miami Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami, FL, Naples Museum of Art, Birmingham Museum of Art, AL, Columbus Museum of Art, GA, Baltimore Museum of Art, MD, the von Liebig Art Center, Naples, FL, Locust Projects, Miami, FL, Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, FL, Carol Jazzar Contemporary, Miami, FL, Calix Gustav Gallery, Miami, FL, Farside Gallery, Miami, FL, Rocket Projects, Miami, FL, and Gallery Geskel, Gothenburg, Sweden, among others.
Pettersson has been published multiple times in New American Paintings and Manifest Drawing Magazine, where she was the editor's pick, and was interviewed for Miami Modern Luxury, Florida International Magazine, and Miami Photo. She is represented by Spinello Gallery in Miami, FL, where she just had her second solo show, Resurrection, which was made into a documentary for Artnet TV.
