Purpose:
The Museum of Discovery and Science is a private, non profit facility whose mission is to provide experiential pathways to lifelong learning in science for children and adults through exhibits, programs and films.


Projects:
The 120,000 sq. ft. museum features over 200 hands-on exhibits, traveling exhibits, a new Eco-Discovery wing and a 300 seat IMAX Theater with 3D films. Exhibits include:, Florida EcoScapes, the Coral Reef, Powerful You, Go Green, Gems and Minerals, Great Gravity Clock, Mars Rover, Pre-Historic Florida, Florida Water Story, Dinosaurs Bone Yard, the Discovery Center, Living in the Everglades, Runways to Rockets: Our Place in Aerospace and the Aviation Station,  Otters at Play, Everglades Airboat Adventure, Prehistoric Florida, Florida Water Mysteries and Storm Center. Plus, the Mangurian Foundation Lifelong Learning Center featuring four new learning labs will allow visitors to enjoy hands-on learning experiences.
The Museum also houses traveling exhibits. From May 24 through September 2, 2013 visitors can enjoy the Tony Hawk: Rad Science Exhibit where families can learn firsthand how science relates to skateboarding and action sports. Starting September 28, 2013 through January 5, 2014, visit the Museum for the new Dinosaurs in Motion traveling exhibit where visitors will be taken on an interactive adventure as they have the chance to manipulate dinosaurs via lever and pulley systems, as well as with remote controls, offering large-scale dinosaur interaction at the Museum of Discovery and Science.
Current programs include outreach; live animal shows, live science demonstrations and labs, holiday and summer science camps, teacher training seminars, lectures and birthday parties. Museum store and Subway. Facility available for special event rentals.
