Purpose:
To preserve and perpetuate the uniquely American art form called jazz; to promote and present live jazz performances featuring national, regional; and resident artists; to celebrate the creativity and artistry of jazz musicians, composers and performers; to provide programs of jazz education and outreach.


Projects:
mainstage jazz series of eight concerts presented from November through May at the 590-seat Amaturo Theater in the Broward Center for the Performing Arts; Jazz Riffs-free pre-concert jazz lectures; free jazz outreach concerts; master classes and workshops for public school students; Jazz is Elementary – jazz education program for elementary school students; The Facets of Jazz – jazz education program for middle and high school students; First Friday Jazz Jams – free jam sessions for jazz students; the Jeanette M. Russell Jazz Scholarship Competition – jazz scholarships for students in need who are studying jazz; the annual jazz gala; other special jazz events; and the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band - a professional jazz band under the direction of Eric Allison, Music Director, available for bookings for concerts, community events and private functions.
