Purpose: The South Gallery features artistic works by national and regional artists. In addition to hosting acclaimed artists from around the country, it also offers a forum for exhibiting the talents of Broward College art students along with the faculty. Year-round exhibitions offer an enlightening artistic and cultural experience.
Projects: Annual art exhibits at the Art Gallery, Building 69. Programs include art lectures, events, presentations, workshops, performances and video art.
Affiliates: History: The Art Gallery first opened its doors to the students and the public in January of 1991. Since that date, The Art Gallery has been offering a schedule of professional exhibitions, lectures and events, lasting from several weeks to several months. An annual exhibition by The Studio Art Club showcases the talents of the art program’s students of Broward College’s south campus. Art works created by a variety of contemporary artists of international, national and regional recognition are shown at The Art Gallery for the remainder of each year. Many of the exhibitions are site specific, environmental, or installations. The concept for The Art Gallery was developed by its founding director, Dr. Kyra Belan. The featured art shows are often accompanied by lectures that explain these exhibitions. Other related events, such as performance art, may take place inside or in front of the gallery, or other locations on campus.
