Purpose:
An umbrella organization coordinating the efforts of all of the Friends of the Library groups within the Broward County Library system.  The president of each local Friends group serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Broward County Library.  The Friends acts as advocate for library services all residents of Broward County, and  raise funds to enhance the library budget.


Projects:
Broward County Library Friends Projects:  Gift Shop in Main Library; Scholars Loan Program; Volunteer recognition; Staff support activities.  Individual Friends Groups' Projects:  Friends’ newsletters; Friends First Book program; Book sales; Book and Author Luncheon; Other luncheons and teas; Wine and cheese parties, dances and similar fundraisers; Lectures and exhibitions; Receptions for artists and authors; Concert and theater parties; Great Books discussions; Book reviews; Drama and poetry readings; Annual Literacy Conference: Frederick Douglas Awards.
