Broward 100 Mural Project: Call to Broward Artists
Broward Cultural Division seeks multiple professional artists or artist teams to design and implement nine (9) or more murals in celebration of Broward County's centennial, Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community. This Call to Artist is open to all professional artists who have resided in Broward County for a minimum of 12 months and have proof of residence. Artist teams may also apply, but one member of the team must be a Broward County resident. An artist is defined as a person who has created a recognized body of original works of art within an artistic discipline over a sustained period of time and who is pursuing this work as a means of livelihood and/or a way to achieve the highest level of professional recognition.

Broward Cultural Division Grants

Broward 100 Mural Project: Call to Broward Cities
Broward Cultural Division would like the assistance of Broward cities and Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs) to identify specific, prominent outdoor locations for nine or more murals and potential partnerships with public and private entities. Broward artists will be selected for the project through this unique partnership among Broward Cultural Division, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Community Foundation of Broward, in celebration of Broward County's centennial, Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community.

Broward artists interested in applying for the Call to Artists for the Broward 100 Mural Project in Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community, are encouraged to attend one of two workshops on how to submit an electronic application in response to this Call to Artists. The workshops will provide an overview of the Call to Artists, guide artists through the on-line application process and answer individual questions.

The process of joining the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida begins with rehearsals of each concert cycle. 2014 Emerging Artist Fellowship – Harpo Foundation – Santa Fe, NM
The Chicago-based Harpo Foundation was established in 2006 to support under-recognized artists. The foundation's Emerging Artist Fellowship at the Santa Fe Art Institute was established in 2013 to provide an annual opportunity to an emerging visual artist who is at least 25 years old and who needs time and space to explore ideas and start new projects. Artist fellows will receive a one-month residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute, which includes a room with private bath, well-lit studio space and a $500 travel stipend.

A Collaborative Cultural Experience - Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts - Fort Lauderdale

On Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 7 – 10 pm, 1310 Gallery at Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts will host a 3-floor interactive experience where visual art responds to performance, performance to film and film to its audience. At the night’s conclusion, the audience will have added their own voices to the narrative, and will help to define resilience for this new era.  Please submit pieces that correlate to the theme of RESILIENCE.

Artwork should be traditional 2-dimensional art, photography (our walls are 13 feet high; lots of natural light), sculpture, site-specific installation, haptic technology, performance and performance art, film and short video (tell a story of resilience).

inSIDE/OUT! Art as Healing Therapy – Art Serve – Fort Lauderdale
Every artist at some stage in their artistic career has used their art as a means of therapy. ArtServe is seeking inspirational art pieces with an overarching theme that explores the emotional and sociological influences that have inspired artistic expression in individuals living with life challenges and disabilities. Artists may submit up to three (3) original, 2 and 3-dimensional, open media artworks. Up to five (5) pieces of jewelry may be entered. Work should not have been shown in a previous ArtServe exhibit in the past six (6) months.

Brimstone Award – National Storytelling Network - Jonesborough, TN
This award focuses on the transformational properties of storytelling, and aims to increase understanding of the ways storytelling can promote change in individuals and communities. Grants of $5,000 will be awarded to support model storytelling projects that are service-oriented, based in a community or organization, and to some extent are replicable in other places and situations.

Request for Qualifications – Clackamas County Arts Alliance – Oregon City, OR
The Clackamas County Arts Alliance in partnership with the City of Oregon City and Main Street Oregon City seeks an artist, or artist team, who is working in the United States, to create site-specific commissioned art for Historic Downtown Oregon City. The main goal of the project is to create a series of unique aerial sculptures highlighting a gateway entrance and marking a pathway into and through Historic Downtown Oregon City. A total budget of $12,000 has been established for this project.

Art in Public Space Program – Housatonic Community College – Bridgeport, CT
The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) and Housatonic Community College (HCC) are currently seeking qualifications from artists for an interior work of art for the lobby of the new addition to Lafayette Hall on the campus of HCC. No specific medium has been specified; however, a sculptural work may be the most appropriate. The approximate budget is $250,000.

The Triumph of Detritus – 1310 Gallery – Fort Lauderdale
This exhibit, curated by Lisa Rockford, seeks contemporary artists, with a “raw” aesthetic, that utilize found, unexpected debris materials and transform them into works of splendor. Visceral materials are combined with exquisite embellishment, and aesthetic appeal is not abandoned, resulting in a tension between repulsion and seduction. Wall-hanging works, sculpture, installation art and video art are welcome. Proposals for site-specific Installation art and performances are welcome as well. This is a group exhibition, with a goal to show multiple works by each of the selected of artists.
