Broward County 's Beach Renourishment Project (Segment III)
Week Ending July 24, 2005

During the past week, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock excavated and placed onto the beach 72,585 cubic yards of sand, for a project total to date of 646,655 cubic yards.

The length of beach construction during the week was 1,320 feet for a total of 7,455 feet of beach constructed. As of July 24, the beach was restored from Magnolia Terrace on south Hollywood beach to nearly the Broward/Miami-Dade County boundary. It is expected that this southernmost segment of beach will be completed early in the week of July 25, at which time beach construction will begin from Magnolia Terrace north into central Hollywood beach.

At John U. Lloyd Beach State Park, work on the southernmost groin, S-3, continued with placement of armor rock and chinking stone along the stem of the structure. Stone-filled mattresses, which will be used for foundation at the T-head portion of the groin, were being delivered to the work site from the Opa-locka rail siding.
