Broward County and the fifteen (15) entitlement communities receive federal funds annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Program.

Most entitlement communities receive SHIP (State Housing Initiative Partnership) funds from the State for affordable housing initiatives. There will be no new allocation of funding for the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year since the State of Florida has not funded the SHIP program.
