Environmental Complaints

The Resilient Environment Department investigates violations of Chapter 27 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances, also known as the Natural Resource Protection Code. Generally, these are activities that could potentially impact the air, waters, soils, or natural resources of Broward County.

Environmental complaints can be reported during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8AM-4:30PM by contacting Broward County's Call Center at 311 or 954-831-4000 or submitting a complaint online (select "Request for Service")

Please be advised that the State of Florida has a broad public records law and all information received is considered public information. If requested, all information may be subject to public disclosure.

After regular business hours, environmental complaints can be reported by calling 954-519-1499 and leaving a message with your name, phone number, and a brief description of the concern. An on-call staff member will call you as soon as possible. If the concern is considered to be an emergency, please call 911 and then 954-519-1499 immediately.

Please have the following information available before you call the complaint line:

  • Your name, address, work and/or home phone number
  • Nature of the complaint
  • Date/Time of the violation
  • Violation location, including address, city and zip code (if known)
  • Company or person causing the environmental concern

**Please include your name and address so that we may appropriately follow up on your concern. Please be advised that effective July 1, 2021, Florida Law prohibits Broward County from investigating anonymous complaints, except in cases where there is reason to suspect there is imminent threat to public health, safety, or welfare, or imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources.**
