 The Conservation Levee, spanning over 48 miles in Broward County, provides an exciting opportunity to develop a trail which will make the Everglades experience more accessible to Broward County residents and visitors. The greenway would extend along the L-36 Levee from the Palm Beach County line (and the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge to the north) south to Wiles Road. At Wiles Road, a trailhead is planned taking advantage of the existing access point under the Sawgrass Expressway. Further south, another trailhead is planned at Atlantic Blvd. and the greenway's intersection with the proposed C-14 Canal/Cypress Creek Greenway. Eventually, a pedestrian/bicycle flyover across the Sawgrass Expressway is planned between these two corridors.
From here, the L-35B Levee branches west in a long loop which eventually meets U.S. 27. At this intersection, Everglades Park would serve as a trailhead. Further to the east, Broward County's Markham Park, which includes mountain biking trails, camping, playgrounds and other facilities, will serve as a major trailhead. At Markham Park, the greenway intersects with the proposed New River/SR 84 Greenway which travels to the east along the New River Canal ending at Port Everglades. Traveling south along the L-37 Levee from U.S. 27, the greenway is bordered on the east by wetlands and lands set aside as a buffer for the Everglades. Everglades Park will serve as a trailhead facility adjacent to the L-37 Levee.
The greenway continues along the scenic L-33 Levee reaching Everglades Holiday Park at Griffin Road. Everglades Holiday Park will provide an excellent trailhead, with amenities such as a restaurant and air boat rides. The greenway continues along the L-33 Levee south with potential future connections to Miami-Dade County.
