NATURE OF WORK
This is administrative and supervisory work in a central storeroom or warehouse.
Work involves supervising a central storeroom or warehouse facility for a department or division, and may include smaller warehouse stockrooms at other sites. Supervision is exercised over a staff of storekeepers and clerical personnel by assignment and review of work. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for conformity with procurement policies and established procedures
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Coordinates procurement, requisitioning, storing, and issuing of commodities with the central warehouse and Broward County's established purchasing procedures.
Supervises and maintains perpetual inventory records.
Plans, assigns, and supervises employees engaged in the operation of a moderate sized commodity warehouse.
Supervises periodic inventory of all commodity in stock.
Supervises the procurement of commodities, the security of commodities, safety of employees, and physical inventories.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of warehouse inventory practices and procedures.
Considerable knowledge of inventory recordkeeping practices.
Knowledge of centralized purchasing procedures used by a large governmental institution.
Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinates.
Ability to expedite critical necessary commodities.
Considerable knowledge to perform clerical work and arithmetic calculations.
Considerable knowledge of computerized inventory control systems and computer keyboard operations.
Ability to prepare, complete and audit Price Agreement Documents and place orders with vendors.
Knowledge of the necessary preparation for delegated purchases and the back up files required.
Ability to understand, write and follow written and oral directions.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school; experience in storekeeping work; experience in planning and supervising the activities of subordinates; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
