NATURE OF WORK
This is a highly responsible administrative and technical work in the information resources environment.
Work includes providing data communications support to the County and elected officials; providing end-user office automation support providing direction to staff in the development and implementation of Quality Assurance and County-wide data and security administration programs; providing financial and budget reports to the Chief, OIT and management staff; developing and implementing standards and procedures for all automation and telecommunication activities within the County; providing training in automation and telecommunication concepts and technologies to OIT and end user staffs and providing mail and courier support to County agencies.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Provides data communications and Help Desk support.
Develops standards, policies and procedure for all automation and telecommunication activities within the County.
Provides end-user office automation support.
Provides parameters for quality assurance in regards to programming, guidelines, testing, and production controls.
Develops, manages, and maintains a County-wide data base.
Provides guidelines for all aspects of security in the areas of office automation, data processing and telecommunications.
Administers training in automation and telecommunications to all office personnel and selective personnel from other County agencies.
Thorough knowledge of data processing, office automation and telecommunications.
Thorough knowledge of current practices relating to education and the various media used in this field.
Considerable knowledge of the current trends and development in the automation, telecommunications and educational fields.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Ability to analyze complex operations and to organize and design their components into logical systems.
Ability to plan, direct, coordinate the work of subordinates.
Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, telecommunications, engineering, business administration, or related field; six (6) years administrative experience in system analyses, networking and computer operations; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
