DIGITAL MEDIA MANAGER

NATURE OF WORK

This is highly responsible management and administrative work in planning, organizing and directing the County’s digital design operations. Work involves supervision of subordinates in the production of digital artwork for print publications and other collateral materials, web page design, and multimedia production.

Work involves planning, assigning and supervising work of subordinate graphics and digital media designers. Work requires a high level of skill in managing high-volume production of digital print materials, web sites and other digital media. Work is performed with considerable independence within the scope of professional methods and procedures to accomplish assigned projects. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for attainment of desired overall results.

 

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Plans and manages the day-to-day operations of digital designers.

Works closely with digital designers to meet performance targets, monitor daily performance, and analyze production data. Directs and counsels subordinate designers on work related activities.

Manages workflow and prioritizes to meet deadlines. Assigns work to graphic designers and web designers and monitors production levels.

Reviews work of graphic designers and web designers for efficiency and quality control through daily observation and reporting methods.

Resolves technical issues related to application software and hardware.

Maintains up-to-date knowledge about new technologies in graphic design and web design and makes recommendations for improvements.

Performs related work as required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design, typography, and print production including four-color process work.

Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of web design.

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of multi-media production including digital audio and video for CD, web hosting, or other electronic distribution.

Thorough knowledge in the operation of a computer and the use of graphic and web design software programs.

Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, organization and administration.

Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinates.

Ability to interpret and present abstract ideas in creative, pictorial graphic forms.

Ability to plan, implement and coordinate technical and administrative programs.

Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in decision making.

Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of BrowardCounty’s Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, color, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, or political affiliation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in commercial art, digital design, or related field; six (6) years of experience in commercial art to include web site development as well as four (4) years in the supervisory aspects of the work; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
