NATURE OF WORK
This is advanced technical and analytical work in business application programming and systems analysis for agency business automation applications projects. It requires direct collaboration with the County’s central IT organization, particularly for the installation of applications on County servers and/or attaching agency specific business automation application components to the County’s infrastructure. Incumbents respond to customer requests for new or modified business applications that may involve planning, designing, and analyzing application programs, software, and hardware requirements.
Work involves assisting in the technical support of large business automation applications which operate within an agency = s microcomputer, minicomputer, and/or LAN/WAN environment.
Duties include applying business application programming techniques and automated application solutions to enhance the agency’s work procedures. Work is performed under the general guidance of senior technical and professional staff, and is reviewed through consultation and evaluation of results.
This classification is distinguished from the Business Applications Analyst I by the additional education and training required, and the greater complexity of agency applications.
Assists the agency’s business and customer community to accurately capture business requirements.
Assists with the enhancement and redevelopment of the object and workflow models to meet the agency’s business requirements.
Assists with the analysis of business requirements and development of solutions that are achievable, acceptable, and consistent with the involved project design concepts.
Assists in the development of new automated approaches to current applications and/or procedures in the agency.
Analyzes, designs, tests, documents, and maintains computer application programs having a moderate to high degree of complexity which support the business needs of the agency.
Applies appropriate application programming languages, report generators, application generators, and high level interpreters to complete assigned tasks.
Prepares automation software specifications and technical documentation for the agency = s business applications.
Configure applications software and hardware.
May supervise technical subordinates in phases of projects.
May act as applications administrator for agency applications.
Meets with agency personnel for application analysis, demonstrations, and informal training.
Researches, tests, and installs new and/or upgraded application software and hardware.
Develops reports, maintains data bases, and assists agency personnel in utilizing automated computer applications.
Works as team member on broader or more complex agency projects.
Effectively communicates and interacts with technical and non-technical personnel within and across the agency = s organization.
Performs related work as required.

Ability to apply technological languages, concepts, and tools, and to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems with established time frames.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four-year (4) college or university with major course work in computer science or related filed; two (2) years experience in systems analysis and application programming relevant to the agency’s conduct of business; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
