NATURE OF WORK
This is payment processing equipment technician work in the operation of a Remittance Processing/Proof machine.
Work involves operation, file transfer, disk/tape rotation and maintenance of microfilm, encoding ribbons and tape needed for operation of payment processing and verification. Work is reviewed by supervising accounts receivable staff through discussions and documentation.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Operates a Remittance Processing/Proof machine.
Maintains supplies of microfilm, encoding ribbons, and cassette tapes to allow daily operation of billing machine.
May assist in cashier duties, including processing mail, batching checks and stubs, researching customer accounts, and attending to customers.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of payment processing methods and technologies.
Skill in the operation of a 10-key billing machine.
Skill in data communication transfer operations.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school; considerable experience in payment processing including data entry; or any combination of training and experience.
