The library is an excellent place to research your family tree.The Reference Section, located on the fifth floor of the Broward County Main Library, provides a variety of materials related to genealogy and genealogical research.                       

Print Sources – Books

The Reference Section includes many reference books for individuals who are doing genealogical research. Circulating books on genealogy are located on the fourth floor of the Broward County Main Library.

Note: Books on genealogy are available at many branches of the Broward County Library and are generally classified in the 929.1-929.2 Dewey Decimal section. 

eBooks

The Broward County Library’s collection of electronic books is available through NetLibrary or OverDrive.

There are many online resources you can use in your geneaology search.Reference Databases

Ancestry Library Edition (website) provides birth, death, immigration, marriage, and military records as well as information from the U.S. census. Access to this database is available only at the Main Library and the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. Ask a staff member at the library for assistance in accessing this database.
