Print Sources - Books and Government Documents

The Reference Section, located on the fifth floor of the Broward County Main Library, provides a variety of reference materials on the subject of international business. Circulating books on international trade are located on the fourth floor of the Broward County Main Library.

Books and government documents on the following topics are available:

  • Directories of principal international companies
  • Doing business in various countries throughout the world
  • Importing and exporting
  • Legal materials
  • Trade statistics

Note :  Books on international trade are available at many branches of the Broward County Library and are generally classified in the 382 Dewey Decimal section of the library. Call your local branch library for additional information.

Reference Databases

Business and Company Resource Center provides links to full-text articles from business journals on a wide variety of business topics, including international trade. It is accessible from any computer by following these steps:

  • Click on " Free Materials" on left column
  • Click on " Free Online Resources"
  • Click on " Business and Investments"
  • Click on " Business and Company Resource Center"

STAT-USA
The Reference Section has a subscription to Stat-USA, a U.S. Department of Commerce database that provides trade information and statistics. Although parts of this database can be viewed at the Stat-USA/Internet website ( www.stat-usa.gov), the database, in its entirety, is only available in the Reference Section. Please see a librarian on the fifth floor to be logged on to the database.

Foreign Trade Statistics

This site provides U.S. foreign trade reports from 1994 to the present and annual import and export data for trade with each country from 1996 to the present. It also includes Schedule B Commodity Export Codes, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and information on compliance reporting using the Automated Export System.

Part of Michigan State University's website, Global Edge includes a feature article, conference announcements, and the text of articles from the Journal of International Marketing. LANIC: Latin American Network Information Center

LANIC provides business and economic information for every country in Latin America. The site includes the import and export policies and procedures of many of these countries.

This service of the U.S. Department of Commerce provides federal business, trade, and economic information. It includes many full-text government reports, including the Handbook of International Economic Statistics

Note:  A limited amount of information is provided for free, but a registration fee is required for additional information. This database, however, can be accessed for free, in its entirely, at the Reference Section of the Main Library. Ask a librarian to assist you in logging on to this database.
