Applying for or Renewing an Auto Repair Shop License
You Must Provide the Following:
- Completed application (PDF)
- License fee of $275*
- County business tax receipt
- City business tax receipt (if applicable)
- Hazardous material license or exemption letter
- Garage liability and garage keeper’s legal liability certificates of insurance*
- Hazardous waste manifest (within 6 months)
- Certified technician application (PDF)
- Corporation or fictitious name documents *
*Important Notes:
- We accept cash (do not mail), check, credit card (PDF) (except American Express), or money order. Make checks payable to: Broward County Board of County Commissioners.
- Certificates of insurance must list Broward County Permitting, Licensing and Consumer Protection Division as a certificate holder and must provide at least 30 days advance notice of cancellation.
- At least one technician with ASE or AATI certification must submit a certified technician application along with the shop license application. All technicians, trainees and lube and tire employees must be registered.
- A copy of the articles of incorporation or, if operating under a fictitious name, current fictitious name registration issued by the Florida Division of Corporations must be submitted.
- Licenses expire annually on September 30

You Must Provide the Following:
- Completed application (PDF)
- Fee of $50 for certified technician*
- Fee of $20 for a trainee*
- Copies of ASE or AAIT Certificates for certified technicians

- Licenses expire annually on September 30
