Participants of the 2011 High School Public Speaking

On May 20, 2011 the Broward County Air Quality Program, in partnership with the Broward County School Board, sponsored a public speaking competition for Broward County High School students.  The theme for the competition was how to balance environmental protection and economic growth! Students were asked “You have been appointed Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. What policies, strategies or programs would you recommend to Florida’s Governor to help protect our natural resources while fostering economic growth?”

Fifteen students qualified to participate in the competition from Cypress Bay High School, Nova High School, Coral Glades High School, and Monarch High School.
