Cricket Match

Broward County was proud to host the Digicel 2012 West Indies vs. New Zealand Cricket Series at Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, June 30 - July 1, 2012.

The series was the first official professional cricket match in the United States, and an estimated 30,000 spectators and cricket enthusiasts watched the West Indies team prevail over New Zealand in what ended up being a dominant performance during the historic two-day event.

Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium is a 110-acre facility completed by the Broward County Commission in November 2007. It has already hosted several smaller cricket events as well as concerts and other sporting events. The stadium features 5,000 covered permanent seats, with additional seating for thousands more.

Cricket is a fast-growing sport in South Florida and the U.S., and the second-most-popular sport in the world, after soccer. There are an estimated 15 million cricket fans living in the United States.

Broward County looks forward to building on the success of the Digicel 2012 West Indies vs. New Zealand Cricket series and hosting many more exciting and popular cricket events in the future.
