A. Searching for a fictitious name:

(1) You may search our records for fictitious names recorded prior to January 1, 1991. This information is available in our Search Section in Room 119 of the Broward County Governmental Center at 115 S. Andrews Ave, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33301. You can check our computerized index for information about Fictitious Names recorded from 1978 - 1990. (The Broward County Recorder’s Office has not recorded fictitious names since January 1, 1991.)

OR

You may make a written request. The fee is $1.50 per name per year. Make the check payable to the Board of County Commissioners. Prominently mark your envelope to the attention of "Search Section, Room 119" at the Ft. Lauderdale address stated above to expedite handling.

(2) For fictitious names recorded on or after January 1, 1991, contact the Department of State, Division of Corporations, P.O. Box 6327, Tallahassee, Florida 32314.

B. Filing a fictitious name:

This office does not provide assistance for completion, record or process applications or notices of a fictitious name(s). You must obtain a Registration Packet, which accompanies the Application Form, with instructions for completion of the application, by contacting the Florida State Division of Corporations, P.O. Box 6327, Tallahassee, Florida 32314. The completed registration application must be mailed to the Department of State Division of Corporations in Tallahassee. Requests for assistance should be directed to that agency.
