About ARRA

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is an unprecedented effort to jumpstart the nation's troubled economy with an economic stimulus plan totaling $787 billion in spending and tax cuts. This largest single cash infusion into the economy in American history was signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009.

During three budget years, up to $13.4 billion in federal stimulus dollars will be pumped into Florida's economy. Broward County is working with the federal government and the Florida Legislature to use our share of these dollars as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The Act contains built-in measures to prevent fraud, waste and abuse, and requires an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability from local governments, so that residents can see and understand how their tax dollars are being spent here in Broward County to fund important projects, create and retain jobs and restore economic vitality.
