Volunteers

VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKERS

Broward County Animal Care and Regulation accepts both volunteers and court-ordered Community Service Workers at our two locations in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach on an as-needed basis.

Volunteers

Volunteers are individuals or groups who are not County employees and do not receive any compensation for their services. They assist Animal Care and Regulation, as needed, in a variety of activities.

 Requirements--To become a volunteer you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Complete a Volunteer Application
  • Pass a Criminal Background check
  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation program or interview conducted by Animal Care and Regulation

Application Process:

  • Access and print off the Volunteer Application
  • Complete, sign and date ALL forms
  • Make a copy of your driver's license, identification card or passport 
  • Mail the dated and signed application with a copy of your driver's license, identification card or passport to:

  • Once the application is approved, the volunteer will be invited to attend a Volunteer Orientation program or interview. Once the program or interview is complete, the volunteer will be assigned to assist Animal Care and Regulation as needed

Community Service Worker

A Community Service Worker is an individual who is ordered by the court system to complete community service hours.

Students who are required to complete service hours for school are considered volunteers, NOT Community Service Workers.

Requirements-To do community service work at Animal Care and Regulation you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Complete a Community Service Worker Application
  • Pass a Criminal Background check (the County does not accept anyone for community service work that has a felony offense)

Application Process:

  • Access and print off the Community Service Worker Application
  • Complete, sign and date all forms.
  • Attach a copy of your driver's license, identification or passport.
  • Attach a copy of your Court Disposition papers.
  • Once the application is approved, the Community Service Worker will be assigned to assist Animal Care and Regulation as needed.
