On February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama signed the Economic Recovery Stimulus Bill. In the days and weeks leading up to this, more than 85,000 messages were sent to Congress through Americans for the Arts.  The final Bill resulted in The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) receiving $50 million.

The following is a summary of each of the federal agencies that may provide items of interest for cultural organizations and artists during the economic recovery.

Important steps to take
D&B
  • Register for a DUNS number (if not already registered) DUNS numbers are a unique nine-digit number that identifies an organization. This number is required to apply for NEA funds. The assignment is free and registration is available online

Please note: all questions regarding the DUNS number must be through D&B.  FAQ's Division staff does not have any expertise on the DUNS number or the registration process.

  • CCRRegister for the Central Contractor Registration (CCR).  CCR registration is the primary registrant database for the federal government, and will be another requirement for application to the stimulus funds.  To begin the CCR registration process visit this link: http://www.ccr.gov/
