Community Relations and Outreach

Through its community outreach activities, the Broward County Civil Rights Division strives to:

•  Facilitate positive inter-group relations through outreach, training, and education
•  Inform the public of the mission of the Office of Equal Opportunity
•  Assist in eradicating intolerance of differences throughout Broward County 's diverse population

The Civil Rights Division welcomes the opportunity to participate in and present outreach programs for residents of Broward County , to inform them of their rights under the law and to provide them with the knowledge needed to avoid potentially discriminatory practices. Our programs are designed to provide an enhanced understanding of civil rights laws, the value of tolerance and the importance of diversity.

The Broward County Civil Rights Division is available to provide free training and presentations to interested groups and companies on fair housing, managing discrimination in the workplace, and other topics through the Office of Equal Opportunity's Speakers Bureau .  This community service program fosters greater understanding of your legal rights and responsibilities under the law with a goal of protecting the rights of Broward County residents and to prevent discrimination in our community.

The Division offers FREE training and presentations on the following topics:

•  Employment Discrimination
•  Housing Discrimination
•  Public Accommodations
•  And more

Programs can be tailored to meet the particular needs of your group, organization or staff – from presentations at local schools to special interest groups at Senior Centers. We encourage business owners and executives to work with us to design a training course for your employees. Please contact the Civil Rights Division at 954-357-7800 to get more information or to request our participation in your event.
