Sea Turtles

Summer is the Season for Turtles
Four species of sea turtles use South Florida's beaches during the Baby loggerhead turtlespring/summer months to lay and incubate their eggs until the hatchlings emerge 45 to 55 days later. This program, presented by the Sea Turtle Conservation staff from Nova Southeastern University, shares the mysterious life of sea turtles and their fight for survival, and ends with a beach-side release of hatchlings on Wednesday and Friday nights from July through September conducted by naturalists from the Anne Kolb Nature Center. Check the Anne Kolb Nature Center events calendar for exact dates and times or call the naturalists at 954-926-2480.

Water Matters Day Unloading the plants for Water Matters Day

Water Matters Day, sponsored by the Water Resources Division, was held Saturday, March 14, 2009.  This event is the County's premier water conservation event that serves to inform residents about the regional water system, the need for water conservation, alternative water supply development, and how to conserve water and enhance water quality while creating attractive landscapes that are beneficial for native wildlife. This event is held every March at Tree Tops Park.  Patrons enjoy this event as usually there are free plants for the public.
