Register Now for Fantasy of Lights 5K Run and Walk
- Event set for November 21 at Tradewinds Park -
WHAT: The 14th Fantasy of Lights 5K Run and 2.5-Mile Fitness Walk will be held starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, at Tradewinds Park, 3600 W. Sample Rd., Coconut Creek. A unique evening race set on a USA Track and Field-certified course illuminated with millions of lights and larger-than-life animated displays, the 5K course is flat, fast, and ideal for setting a personal record. The 5K Run begins at 6 p.m., followed by the 2.5-Mile Fitness Walk at 7 p.m. There is also a free Kids’ Fun Run starting at 6:50 p.m. Open registration is available only at www.active.com – no paper registration is offered. The fees are $20 per person for the 5K Run and $17 per person for the Fitness Walk. Registration is limited.
All race results will be posted online at www.splitsecondtiming.com. 5K race participants will be using a ChronoTrack Timing System, which is chipless, meaning participants will no longer have to pick up a chip before the race or hand one in at the end. The timing device is located on the race number itself – participants peel off the D-Tag timing strip, fold it over, adhere the two ends together, and place it on their show; after the race, the tag can simply be thrown away. Any participant not wearing a D-Tag on his/her show will not be timed or scored in the results. The 2.5-Mile Fitness Walk will not be timed or scored.
No pets, skateboards, in-line skates, or bicycles will be allowed for the 5K Run and 2.5-Mile Fitness Walk, although strollers will be permitted. All registered participants will receive a long-sleeved multicolored T-shirt. After the race, there will also be a deejay, costumed characters, a bounce house for kids, and a variety of foods, desserts, and beverages. Massages will be provided by the Florida College of Natural Health.
