Broward County 4-H Wins Statewide Award
WHAT: The Broward County Parks and Recreation Division is pleased to announce that the 4-H Junior Master Gardener program, which is part of the Division’s Extension Education Section, was named a Program of Excellence by the Florida Association of Extension 4-H Agents (FAE4-HA). “This means that out of all the 4-H programming done in the whole state,” says Broward County 4-H Extension Agent Angelina C. Toomey, “our Junior Master Gardener program stood out for the positive effect it has had on our youth and local community.”
According to its Website, FAE4-HA is “a professional association committed to developing its members to the highest standards in the youth development profession and serving as a voice for 4-H agents in Florida.” The association annually presents no more than five Search for Program Excellence awards statewide.
The Junior Master Gardener program is a 4-H youth development program of the cooperative Extension Education system. In Broward County, the program involves a one- to two-year commitment for enrolled 4-H youths. Through Junior Master Gardener, young people in 4-H are able to take part in independent and group learning experiences, life skills, and career exploration.
For further information on the 4-H Junior Master Gardener program, contact Angelina C. Toomey at 954-370-3725 or 954-382-5881.
