Learn While You Lunch at Lecture Series
- First lecture on the wild swamps of Botswana features Metrozoo’s Ron Magill -
WHAT: Discover our human past underneath the surfaces of our oceans, lakes, and other waterways during the first installment of the Lunch-and-Learn Nature Series at the Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake Park in Hollywood. The first lecture, “Okavango: Wild Swamps of Botswana,” will be presented from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 13, by Ron Magill, communications and media director for Miami Metrozoo. The program is for adults, and admission per lecture is a $5 donation to the Friends of the Anne Kolb Nature Center volunteer group. A complimentary lunch is included.
Subsequent lectures will include “Invasive Wildlife Threatening the Florida Everglades” by Michael Rochford of the University of Florida’s Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation (Friday, December 4) and “Great Landscaping: Pearls of Wisdom” by David McLean of Fort Lauderdale’s Trinity Churchside Gardens (Friday, January 22).

HOW: Admission: $5/per person per lecture suggested donation to the Friends of the Anne Kolb Nature Center. Preregistration is required at least a week prior to the event.
