Class Dates and Times​​​​

Both parks offer three sessions that include all three courses below.

Session 1: June 17-27, 2024, 9:15-9:45AM
(no class on Wednesday, June 19, class will be held on June 21 instead)
Session 2: July 8-18, 2024, 9:15-9:45AM
Session 3: July 22-August 1, 2024, 9:15-9:45AM

Learn to Swim Course Descriptions

Preschool and Parent
For ages 2 through 3 who have no swimming abilities, are frightened of the water, and cannot jump into the water by themselves. (Children who are not toilet-trained are required to wear disposable swimpants.)

Parents participate with their children in the water. The class will focus on water familiarization and the following swimming skills:

Submerge face under water - rhythmic breathing - jump water entry - prone float - water walk - rear float - front over-arm strokes - prone glide - rear glide - prone kick glide - rear kick glide - combined front stroke - rear elementary arm stroke - combined rear stroke​

Preschool

For children ages 3 through 5. Parents must attend the class but will not be allowed in the water. The focus is on water familiarization and the following swimming skills:

Submerge face under water - rhythmic breathing - jump water entry - prone float - water walk - rear float - front over-arm strokes - prone glide - rear glide - prone kick glide - rear kick glide - combined front stroke - rear elementary arm stroke - combined rear stroke​

Beginner

This program is for children 6 through 10 years old who have no swimming skills. The class objective is to learn the following swimming skills:

Breath holding - bobbing - jumping - front float - front glide - back float - back glide - front glide with kick - back glide with kick - elementary backstroke - front crawl arms - front crawl - backstroke - breaststroke​

​Session Information

All swim lesson classes meet for a total of eight lessons. Classes are 30 minutes long and meet Monday through Thursday. Classes are limited to six students and will be held only if a minimum enrollment is met. Students may be placed in a different class, during the same time slot, at the discretion of the instructor. If lessons are canceled, make-up time may be added to each class. If make-up time is not enough, lessons that are canceled will be made up on Friday. Each session is limited to two rain-out lessons. Registration Information & Fees

Registration for all swimming sessions starts May 1, 2024. Refer to each park for specific times and locations. Classes are filled on a first-come, first served basis. Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum registration is not attained. The fee is $50 per session. For more information call the park of your choice.​​

Tips for Parents

1. All participants must be dressed and ready to swim when class begins. Parents should bring towels for their children.

2. If you need to feed your child before class, meals should be light. Greasy food, candy, and soda are not recommended.

3. Participants should be in good health. No one with a cough, cold, fever, infection, open sore, or rash, or who looks or acts sick, will be allowed to participate. 

4. Parents and family members are encouraged to stay and watch. Please notify a supervisor if you plan to leave the swimming facility during lessons.

5. Pool toys and teaching materials are supplied by the park. We discourage bringing toys and flotation devices of any kind from home.

6. We encourage parents to ask questions or raise concerns.

Cancellation & Refunds

All cancellations or date transfers must be made at least 14 days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations/transfers are subject to a $10 fee. Refund requests must be submitted in writing or by email to park management and accompanied by the original receipt.
