Mandatory Airport Employee Emergency Training (AEET) Ongoing
On May 6, 2019, the National Association of Counties (NACo) announced that FLL's new Airport Employee Emergency Training (AEET) Program won a 2019 Achievement Award in the Personnel Management, Employment, and Training category. The Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) launched the innovative industry-leading training program in August 2018 to better prepare airport employees to respond to emergencies such as active threats, hurricanes, and aircraft incidents.
AEET Background Information
BCAD launched its innovative industry-leading Airport Employee Emergency Training (AEET) training program on August 15, 2018, to better prepare employees to respond to emergencies such as active threats, hurricanes, and aircraft incidents. More than 17,000 employees who routinely work at FLL have taken the new training program as of the end of 2018.
This first-of-its-kind training program was approved and endorsed by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners for all employees who regularly work at FLL or have Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badges and/or Public Area Business Purpose (PABP) credentials. Airport employees and all impacted constituents are required to take AEET every two years.
Employees can access and complete this mandatory training from any device with internet access. The approximately 2.5-hour program consists of six modules covering topics such as FLL’s emergency response plans, communications during emergencies, basic first aid, customer service tips, and recognizing human trafficking.
