Lamar P. Fisher is a fourth-generation resident of Broward County, and his great-grandfather signed the articles of incorporation for the City of Pompano Beach in 1908. His grandfather also served as Mayor for Pompano Beach in 1943. Lamar received the “Pioneer Award" from the Historic Preservation Board of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners in May of 2018. His commitment to Broward County is unwavering and loves to serve others.

Lamar began serving his community in 1982 with his involvement in Kiwanis International. He is the Founder of “K-Kids", an organization which provides children in elementary schools worldwide the opportunity to understand the importance and value of community service. Lamar also served as Kiwanis International's Florida District Governor in 1998-1999.

Lamar entered the public service arena in 1994 by serving on the City of Pompano Beach Planning and Zoning Board for eight years. He was successfully elected as the Pompano Beach City Commissioner for District 3 in 2002 and re-elected in 2004 and 2006. Following in his grandfather's footsteps, in 2007 Lamar was elected Mayor-at-Large of Pompano Beach and served further re-election terms in 2010, 2013 and 2016 through November of 2018.

During Lamar's tenure of serving the great City of Pompano Beach as Mayor-at-Large, he championed and saw through the completion of the re-development of the beach area and Old Town, making the City of Pompano Beach a true sought-after destination for not only its current residents but for visiting tourists alike. He also served Broward County for over seven years on the Broward County Planning Council and was elected by his peers to be the Chair of the Council for two consecutive years.

In 2018, Lamar was elected to represent County Commission District 4, which now includes all or portions of Fort Lauderdale, Hillsboro Beach, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lazy Lake, Lighthouse Point, Oakland Park, Pompano Beach, Sea Ranch Lakes and Wilton Manors. As a Broward County Commissioner, Lamar has worked collaboratively with city elected officials to make sure the needs of all the residents in District 4 are being met. On November 29, 2022, his colleagues unanimously selected him as Mayor of Broward County and proudly served in this role through November 27, 2023. Additionally, Lamar serves on several Boards. He holds the special appointment as the Broward County Commission Beach Renourishment Liaison, is a member of the Port Everglades Advocacy Team and the Fort Lauderdale Federal Courthouse Committee. He also has served on the Broward Housing Council, the School Oversight Board, and the Transportation Management Association. In his individual capacity he also serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors for the Bonnet House. His goals include affordable housing, finding sensible solutions for homelessness, focusing on transportation solutions, continued beach renourishment and a thriving local economy.

Aside from a lengthy career in public service, Lamar serves as the President and CEO of Fisher Auction Company, Inc., a thriving Real Estate Brokerage and Auction Firm located in Pompano Beach, Florida celebrating its 53rd year in business. He always lends his talent as a professional Auctioneer to multiple charitable organizations raising thousands of dollars each year.

Lastly and most important, Lamar is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Lamar and his wife Suzan have two children, Patricia Fisher McGrath and Lamar “Paul" Fisher Jr. who also serve at Fisher Auction Company as In-House Counsel and Executive Vice President of Business Development, making the business a fourth-generation family run firm.

Lamar's roots run deep in family, supporting his church, and giving back to his community and Broward County.
