The Community Development Block Grant – Care Act Program provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities, and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.
The Family Success Administration Division received the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)– Cares Act funds through the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division to provide financial assistance to Broward County residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to help with rent assistance. The funds will be available until they have been exhausted.
CDBG Funds Provide Financial Assistance

You may qualify for financial assistance if COVID-19 has impacted your ability to pay your current or past due rent.

- You must reside in eligible cities within Broward County. (See list below)
- You must have lost your job or had a reduction of employment
- You cannot exceed household income guidelines (See list below)
- No duplication of benefits

Applicants must provide the following documents:
- Picture Identification
- Lease or Rental Agreement
- Proof of income prior to loss of income
- Document from landlord that tenant is behind in rent
- W-9 completed by the landlord
- Additional documents may be required
