Register/FreeEnjoy an amazing evening of electrifying stories and authentic Japanese drumming at Moonlight Tales, our annual song-and-story cabaret for adults. Complimentary refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of Fort Lauderdale Libraries. This year's event is held in conjunction with the
NEA Big Read title,
To Live by Chinese-born author Yu Hua, celebrating the culture and heritage of Asian Americans.
Monica Shang, director of South Florida's Chinese Performing Arts Group, will emcee and the event will include the following performers:

Fushu Daiko This Florida-based taiko drumming ensemble performs both classic and modern compositions that honor and showcase the sounds of traditional Japanese percussion.

Dr. Joel Ying Eclectic folktales and his unique personal experiences as a physician bridge the traditional and the modern in Ying's unique storytelling.
- Motokoi Asian folktales, Rakugo and Zen tales, ghost stories, mime vignettes, are performed by Motoko, as well as oral memoirs from her childhood in Osaka and her life as an immigrant in the U.S.
