Equestrian Facilities and Activities
Four of our regional parks offer horseback riding. The Tradewinds Park stables are County-operated and offer trail rides, pony rides, camps, and field trips. At
Tree Tops, riders bring their own horses, as they do to ride the equestrian trails at
Long Key Natural Area & Nature Center and
Vista View Park as well.
HORSE CAMPS & JUNIOR FARMERS' CAMP
Seasonal camps offered during Broward County Public School Spring, Summer, and Winter breaks. Registration for all camps will be available online or at the park office prior to designated holiday breaks. For availability you may check Webtrac or call the park's main office extension. Register online on Webtrac under "Events and Programs" or in person at the park's main office. Registration is limited.
TRAILBLAZERS HORSE CAMP
Ages 9 to 14
Fee: $75/day
Daily Duration: 8:30AM-3:30PM
If your child is wild about horses this is the camp for them! Campers will learn the basics of horseback riding, different aspects of horsemanship, and basic farm animal care through fun, hands-on educational moments.
Camp duration varies depending on season. Enrollment may be offered per day or as a multiday package. Enrollment maximum capacities vary based on season. Please call the park office for more information. Register online using Webtrac or in the park's main office.

JUNIOR FARMERS' CAMP
Ages 5 to 8
Fee: $40/session
Session Duration: 8:30AM-Noon
Junior farmers will get an introduction to basic farm animal care (i.e. chickens, goats, and pigs); participate in hands-on agricultural learning activities and crafts; find out how to feed, groom, and maintain farm animals; learn how to care for and groom ponies and go for a pony ride. Sessions are per day, but you may enroll for the whole week.

PUBLIC GUIDED TRAIL RIDES
Ages 9 and up
Fee: $40/person (tax included)
When: Saturday and Sunday (reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance)

- Winter, Spring, and late Fall seasons: 9AM, 10:30AM, and 1:30PM
- Summer and early Fall seasons: 8AM and 9:30AM
Trail ride sessions are one-hour long and follow the mostly shaded trails of the park. All riders are assigned their own horses, and all trail groups have at least one trail guide leading the ride. Depending on the size of the ride, there may be an additional trail guide at the back of the group. No double riding is permitted. No trotting, cantering, or galloping; all rides are at a walking pace.
Riding Requirements
All riders must meet all three requirements below:
- At least 9 years old
- At least 52 inches tall
- Weigh no more than 225 pounds
Prospective riders that do not meet all three requirements will not be permitted to ride. Riders appearing close to the 52 inches mark will be measured to verify height requirement.
For the health and safety of the horses, all riders will be weighed on a professional doctor's scale to verify the rider meets the weight restriction. Riders stand on the scale fully clothed in a semi-private check-in booth with a stables staff membere without revealing the rider's specific weight. Riders 16 years and younger are required to wear an ASTEM/SEI-certified riding helmet provided by the Tradewinds Park and Stable staff.
Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required to ride. Shoes like Crocs™ or slip-on clogs are not allowed. Insect repellent and sunscreen are also recommended.
How to Make a Reservation
All rides must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance before the prospective date. Guided Trail Rides may be reserved several weeks in advance. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan accordingly.
To schedule a Guided Trail Ride please call 954-357-8870, ext. 0. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance and paid for within 24 hours of booking online using Webtrac.
Payment is not accepted over the phone. The park's regular weekend/holiday gate entrance fee of $3/vehicle (for 8 or fewer occupants) and $20/vehicle (for 9 or more passengers) will be in effect.
PRIVATE GUIDED TRAIL RIDES
Ages 9 and up
Fee: $50/rider (tax included)
When: Only offered Tuesday-Thursday (reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance)
Private Guided Trail Rides are offered on a limited basis during the week. Sessions are one-hour long and follow the mostly shaded trails of the park. All riders are assigned their own horses, and all trail groups have at least one trail guide leading the ride. Depending on the size of the ride, there may be an additional trail guide at the back of the group. No double riding is permitted. No trotting, cantering, or galloping; all rides are at a walking pace.
All riders must meet the same riding requirements as in the Public Guided Trail Rides (see section above).

PONY RIDES
Fee: $3/lap (tax included)

Weather permitting. Children must be shorter than 52 inches tall to ride the ponies. Tickets sold at the park's General Store. Ticket sales end at least 15 minutes before the activity end time buy may end earlier depending on operational needs. The park's regular weekend/holiday gate entrance fee of $3/vehicle (for 8 or fewer occupants) and $20/vehicle (for 9 or more passengers) will be in effect.
EDUCATIONAL FARM
Fee: $3/participants (tax included; children under 2 are free)
When: Saturday and Sunday
Duration: 30 minutes

The park's farm complex adjacent to the stables includes farm animals that can be seen from outside the fence during park operating hours. Public farm tours are offered every weekend, weather permitting. Tours are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. EQUINE PHOTO SHOOTS
Fees:
- Undecorated: $50/hour
- Decorated: $90/hour
When: Monday-Friday that do not fall on county designated holidays
Duration: One hour minimum
If you would like to take photographs with one of the park’s horses, you may rent a horse for a one-hour photo shoot for $50. This includes a handler for your session but does not include a photographer. Photo shoots may be scheduled only on weekdays, and your photographer must acquire a film permit before the day of the photo shoot.
