Broward County is home to thousands of Community Cats--unowned cats that live outdoors.

Some of these cats are part of a cat colony and are cared for by a Colony Caregiver. Other cats roam freely throughout neighborhoods and communities.

In 2015, the Broward County Chapter 4 Animal Care Ordinance was amended to allow for Community Cat Management Programs. The goal is to reduce the overpopulation of Community Cats within Broward County through two sterilization programs:

  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)
  • Return to Field (RTF)

We will not be accepting community cats for sterilization services during these upcoming dates in 2024:

  • Saturday, October 5th
  • Saturday, October 12th
  • Saturday, October 19th
  • Saturday, November 9th through Monday, November 11th
  • Monday, November 25th through Friday, November 29th
  • Sunday, December 22nd through Wednesday, December 25th
  • Sunday, December 29th through Wednesday, January 1st
