For purposes of the Federal Shore Protection Project (SPP), Broward County is sub-divided into three management segments. Segment I beaches coincide with the coastal municipalities of Deerfield Beach and Hillsboro Beach, from the north County line to Hillsboro Inlet. Beach management operations along the Segment I coast are run by the respective governing municipalities. Segment II extends from Hillsboro Inlet to Port Everglades, traversing Pompano Beach, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Fort Lauderdale. Segment III covers the remaining distance to the south County line, extending across coastal portions of Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, Dania Beach, Hollywood Beach, and Hallandale Beach.
