Welcome to the Emergency A to Z Guide

This A to Z guide contains useful information to help you prepare for and recover from an emergency, such as a hurricane. To begin, select a topic.

  • In the event of an emergency, call your airline for information on arrivals and departures. You can also check for updates on your airline's app or website.
  • Broward County’s airports and airport garages are not shelters for residents or resident vehicles.

  • In an emergency, operations at Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport may be interrupted, and/or flights may be required to land at an alternate location. In a weather emergency, airport staff in consultation with airlines will determine when the last flights will arrive and depart. Flights must stop in time for airlines to relocate aircraft to a safe location.

  • North Perry General Airport

  • Once an emergency event has passed, damages to Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry General Aviation Airport, if any, will be assessed and operations will resume when the safety of employees, flight personnel and the public can be ensured.
  • Call your airline for information on arrivals and departures. Keep in mind, there will be long hold times and long lines at the airport. Much of the information regarding cancelled/rescheduled flights can be found on your airline's app or website.
