  • To Live by Yu Hua is the fictional story of the struggles endured by the son of a wealthy landowner during the Chinese Revolution.

  • The Nian Monster by Andrea Wang is for early readers (preschool-grade 3) and features a brave young girl who must save the New Year celebration from the legendary Nian monster.
Join the community in reading the two NEA Big Read 2025 titles and attending free programs and activities that include Chinese calligraphy, floral fan art, bookbinding, traditional Chinese dance and musical performances, film screenings, writing workshops, book discussions and storytimes.

All events and activities are free and open to the public. A limited supply of free copies of To Live and The Nian Monster will be available while supplies last.​​
