​Books-By-Mail​ service makes available books and other printed material to library users of all ages who are homebound or unable to visit their local library due to physical disability.

Wi-Fi hotspots are portable units that can access the internet from anywhere. ​
Borrowing a​ Hotspot:
  • Broward County Library card in good standing​
  • available at all ​locations​
  • 18 year​s of age or older​​
  • checkout period is 30 days, no renewals​

​ Returning a Hotspot:
  • bring the hotspot ​and all of its accessori​es (case, adaptor cable, manual) ​in-person to a staff member at the Circulation Desk of the library from which it was borrowed.​ *Please do not return it to the book drop
  • return the hotspot by the due date to avoid any overdue charges

The Workforce Ready program provides ​a Samsung Tablet S7 FE with keyboard/trackpad and cover. The tablet has free, built-in T-Mobile internet service, making it possible to search online for jobs, email a résumé, or participate in online job interviews.

The Galaxy Tablet S7 has an ultra-large display and a 12.4" viewing surface that's easy on the eyes and the keyboard includes a wide trackpad, an S Pen holder and a protective cover. One device per household is allowed for a checkout period of 30 days.​​

Eligibility requirements:
  • valid Broward County Library card in good standing
  • 18 years of age or older
  • complete a borrower application form and statement of financial responsibility for the items
  • view safety tutorial videos
  • complete a feedback survey and guarantee good care of the devices.

The Workforce Ready program provides ​14” Chromebook laptops and internet Wi-Fi hotspots in an effort to bridge the digital divide in Broward communities and support digital equity among job applicants.

The 14" Chromebook and Wi-Fi enabled hotspot can be used to prepare​ resumes, job searches, online interviews and educational webinars to enhance employability. Only one device per household is allowed for a checkout period of 30 days, no renewals.

Eligibility requirements:
  • ​provide proof of residency in one of the six qualifying Broward zip codes: 33069, 33023, 33309, 33311, 33313 or 33319
  • valid Broward County Library card in good standing
  • 18 years of age​ or older
  • complete a borrower application form in addition to a statement of financial responsibility for the items
  • view safety tutorial videos
  • complete a feedback survey and guarantee good care of the devices

  • Kill A Watt: Pluggable outlet device to track and calculate your electrical expenses.
  • Sphero: Bring coding and programming to life with these educational and fun spherical robots.
  • Raspberry Pi kits: Simple single-board computers that teach coding and other tech skills.
  • Snap Circuits: Electronic kits that help children learn and understand engineering concepts.
  • Circuit Scribe: Ball-point pen containing silver conductive ink that can draw circuits instantly on a flexible surface, like paper.
  • Intuos drawing tablets: Use a computer along with the Intuos tablet and pen to create digital art.
  • Finch Robots: Helps students as young as five learn about computer science and coding.
  • liitleBits: easy-to-use electronic building blocks that snap together with magnets to make learning about circuitry and electronics exciting and engaging.

Creation Station Music is at Jan Moran Collier City Learning Library in Pompano Beach. This location has acoustic guitars that are available for check-out in conjunction with a music tutoring program.

Bird watchers have a new resource through Broward County Library in the form of backpacks to check out free at select libraries. They contain one adult binocular, a child’s binocular and a guide to Florida birds.​ Backpacks can be checked out for three weeks at a time. 

Eligibility requirement is a ​valid Broward County Library card in good standing​​.

​MERGE Cubes let you physically hold and interact with 3D objects using augmented reality (AR) technology. They can be used with apps such as Galactic Explorer and Anatomy/AR let you view realistic, immersive 3D models that bring science to life, including models of the solar system and parts of the human body. Recommended for age 10 and up. 

Available for check out at 36 of our locations​ (not available at NSU-Alvin Sherman Library and Fort Lauderdale Reading Center).

MERGE Headsets and MERGE Cubes bring MERGE’s 3D content to life. Users can access over 300 kid-safe VR and 360 video experiences from sources such as NASA, National Geographic, Disney, Google and even your Android or iOS smartphones. Recommended for age 10 and up.

Just Plug & Play...perfect for your commute. Playaways are self-playing digital audiobook devices. Each Playaway comes pre-loaded with a single audiobook, making your audiobook experience easier than ever.​ To borrow a Playaway or learn more please ask the staff at your library location​.

​Read-alongs are the perfect tool for reducing your children’s screen time, encouraging reading and improving literacy skills.

We offer both Playaway Wonderbooks and VOX™ Books. The Wonderbooks collection includes picture books, easy readers and titles for older readers, including chapter books. They also feature a Learning Mode, which provides a fun, educator-vetted question-and-answer session that keeps kids talking about the books they just read. VOX™ Books' collection features picture books and easy reade​rs. Bilingual Spanish/English titles are available.​
