June 1 - August 9, Registration begins May 1

Summer reading promotes literacy:
  • ​Early Literacy Program - preparing children for success by developing early language skills
  • Children's Program - helping young children build reading and language skills.
  • ​Teen Program - motivating teens to read and discuss literature.
  • Adult Program - encouraging adults to experience the joy of reading.​​

The 2025 Summer Learning Program will feature imaginative and entertaining library events centered around art, science and culture. 

Register for one of our summer challenges beginning May 1. Readers may start logging their reading and learning beginging June 1 through August 9. Once you reach your reading goal, visit your local library to pick up your summer reward pack!

Your participation makes you eligible to win prizes from community partners such as Wendy’s, Museum of Discovery and Science, Young at Art Museum, Florida Panthers, Bluefoot Pirates Adventures, Lakeshore Learning, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach, Water Taxi, Frost Science Museum, Pines Ice Arena and more. Grand Prize drawings will be held May 31 (at Children’s Bookfest), July 1, August 1 and August 9.


​Program Highlights


The Crayon Initiative

Bring your old crayons to any local BCL library branch. At the end of the summer we will donate the crayons and they will be turned into brand new crayons for kids in the hospital via The Crayon Initiative​.

Make a Tiny Masterpiece
Beginning June 1, stop by your local branch and pick up a 4"x4" canvas and easel to create your own tiny art. Bring it back to the branch when you are finished and it will be included in art exhibits throughout BCL locations. (​While supplies last.)

Children's BookFest​
Summer Learning Program's kickoff is May 31 at West Regional Library 

Free Book
Readers may pre-enroll for summer learning challenges beginning May 1. Register for a summer learning challenge and then go to a local BCL location to pick up a free book. ​
