The 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County is a two-tier justice system comprised of County Court and Circuit Court.
The Clerk of Courts is a constitutional office. The office of the Trial Court Administrator is involved with all aspects of court management involving the 90 judges of the Circuit and County courts, provides administrative support to the courts, and directs the operations of numerous Court programs, such as mediation, arbitration and Teen Court. Other agencies of the court system include the State Attorney's Office and the Public Defender's Office.
These offices are not agencies of the Broward County Commission, however the County Commission owns and maintains the facilities they operate in, and funds some operations of the Courts, State Attorney’s Office and Public Defender’s Office.
